The professionals at the National Security Agency (NSA) have one common goal: to protect our nation. The mission requires a strong offense and a steadfast defense. The offense collects, processes and disseminates intelligence information derived from foreign signals for intelligence and counterintelligence purposes. The defense prevents adversaries from gaining access to sensitive of classified national security information. Occupational safety and health professionals in the NSA Georgia, Office of Occupational Health, Environmental, and Safety Services support the high tempo tactical mission by developing and implementing occupational health, environmental, safety and health programs and services to reduce risk and/or eliminating potential hazards affecting the workforce.

Description of Position

We are seeking an experienced safety professional to support our team as a Safety Specialist (Environmental Safety and Health). The successful candidate will be joining a small diverse group of NSA Georgia occupational health, mental health, public health, work life, safety, and health subject matter experts who manage programs and deliver services recognized as models in the intelligence community. The Safety Specialist will manage and implement mandated Environmental, Safety, Health and Fire Protection programs.

This position is responsible for anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, controlling, and eliminating hazards; preparing written reports with recommendations for corrective actions; delivering education and training solutions via multiple platforms; conducting accident investigations; and coordinating with building management, medical, industrial hygiene, fire protection, environmental, engineering and other external Fort Gordon professionals to resolve issues that impact the health and well-being of the workforce.

Additional duties include interpreting safety and health codes, standards, and regulations; conducting design reviews for new construction, building renovations, and new equipment/system procurements; managing site environmental and sustainability programs, implementing and managing site emergency planning and preparedness programs and maintaining technical proficiency to provide up-to-date guidance on regulatory standards and industry best practices.
